Comptroller Peter Franchot reminds taxpayers that they can skip the hassle of waiting in long lines or mailing checks and make their tax payments online with the mobile-friendly Comptroller Online Tax Payment Service. The online service accepts payments for individual income tax, business sales and use tax, and business withholding taxes 24 hours a day, seven days a week and applies to taxes owed for the current year or any previous year. If an income tax return is filed electronically by April 15, taxpayers have until April 30 to make the credit card payment online. The Comptroller Online Tax Payment Service can also be accessed through the state’s official website, www.maryland.gov.
The payment service accepts all major credit cards and has been optimized for better usability on any Internet connected device – smartphone, tablet, or desktop, reaching taxpayers in the office, at home or on-the-go. The service also streamlines and expedites tax payments processed in the Comptroller of Maryland’s office, reducing the manual paper-filing and payment process.
Payments may be made online for the following tax types:
- Estimated Personal Income Tax
- Personal Income Tax
- Extension Income Tax
- Existing Liability/Established Debt
- Sales and Use Tax
- Withholding Tax
Customer and technical support representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support via email, phone and live chat in the event a taxpayer needs any additional assistance.
