While everyone is replaceable, experts agree the GSA has some digging to do in order to find a good one for Karl Krumbholz.

Now that the General Services Administration is losing its leading man of network services programs, agency officials are charged with finding someone to lead the programs while also fitting into the changing telecommunications world, according to a Federal Computer Week article.

Krumbholz will retire from GSA in December, according to a Sept. 6 post on his “Network Services Update” blog.

“Karl is a true expert and someone who will be hard to replace,” said Larry Allen, president of Allen Federal Business Partners and former president of the Coalition for Government Procurement, an industry group that works closely with GSA.

Krumbholz is responsible for GSA telecommunications development programs and the management of wide area and regional contracts providing services to approximately 135 Government agencies and 11 regions. His responsibilities include the Networx Program (including MTIPS and Telepresence), FTS2001 and Crossover contracts, Connections, Connections II, SATCOM II, Future Commercial Satellite Services Program (FCSA), Wireless Services, Federal Relay, and program management of the regional network services contracts and programs.
