Steven VanRoekel, the White House’s newly-named federal chief information officer wasted little time thanking Twitter followers from his new account, @stevenvDC at the Office of Management and Budget’s CIO office.

In one of his first messages, he wrote:

Thanks all for kind words upon my appt as US CIO. Humbled, excited and energized to take Fed IT to next level. Stay tuned. #gov20 @OMBPress@stevenvDC

VanRoekel proved to be an leading advocate of Twitter while serving as the managing director at the Federal Communications Commission.

Indeed, it was his fluency using Twitter that led his Twitter followers to recognize VanRoeckel was taking on his new duties, ahead of the official announcement by the White House, when he created the new account.
