November 1 marked the start of the 2013 Kansas property tax season, as well as the launch of Kansas.gov’s newly redesigned, mobile-friendly Kansas Property Tax Payment service. Since its launch in 2000, nearly one-hundred thousand Kansans have been able to skip the line at their county treasurer’s office by using the desktop version of the Kansas Property Tax Payments service. Now, mobile users can enjoy the same convenience of paying online, with just a few taps on their smartphone or tablet.
“The Kansas County Treasurers Association is proud to offer this service to the citizens of Kansas. We recognize that many people appreciate having online payment services. People who have used the Kansas Property Tax Payment service have expressed appreciation for the benefits offered by this application.” Gayla Shields, KCTA President
Payments may be made through December 20 for first-half tax payments. Second-half tax payments may be made through the system beginning in January 2014. The Kansas Property Tax Payment application accepts payments made through e-check, as well as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit card payments.
Currently 75 counties participate in the online service. Access to your tax account requires a current tax statement issued by your county treasurer’s office. Additionally, the following must be true:
- Accounts cannot have a prior year tax delinquency
- Accounts must not be in dispute or protest
- Funds must be drawn on a U.S. bank account.
