NIST Hosting Cloud Computing Forum

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is hosting its fifth Cloud Computing Forum & Workshop on June 5-7, 2012, at the Department of Commerce Building in Washington, D.C. The format is a 2-day Forum followed by a 1-day hands-on Workshop.

The event, the latest in a series of forums and workshops to accelerate the U.S. Government agency adoption of cloud computing, is expected to calibrate NIST’s work in supporting the US Government Cloud Computing Technology Roadmap.

It will also include panels focusing on federal and private sector topics of interest and showcases work completed through NIST-chaired public working groups.


The first day agenda features:

9:10-9:20 Keynote -Patrick Gallagher, Under Secretary of Commerce for Standards and Technology and Director, National Institute of Standards and Technology

9:20-11:15 Executive Session -Global Government Views on the Potential for Cloud Computing Technology to Transform Public Services, including comments from:
  • Ambassador Philip L. Verveer, United States Coordinator for International Communications & Information Policy, Department of State
  • Pierre Boucher, Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Government of Canada
  • Zhang Feng, Director-General, Department of Communications Development Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), People’s Republic of China
