President Barack Obama issued this memorandum today, introducing the new federal digital strategy“Digital Government: Building A 21st Century Platform To Better Serve The American People” — which lays out a framework and a set of action plans over the next 12 months for moving information safely and securely to the right stakeholders while using fewer resources. The document provoked praise, questions and some criticism, but many appeared to feel it would solidify efforts already under way in the federal government as well as initiate new, complementary efforts.
