On Their 10th Anniversary Apple Stores Get A Makeover

In September 2014, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and Connecticut Interactive launched the CT DMV Mobile application, providing Connecticut residents with access to important DMV information. The mobile application has reached 115,000 downloads since its launch.

The free mobile application displays the services and office hours for each of the 17 DMV and 15 AAA locations across the state. CT DMV Mobile allows users to conveniently check DMV wait times from their tablets and mobile phones. The application also features three practice knowledge tests and a parent quiz, both popular DMV study aids to help prepare all applicants for a learner’s permit test and to give parents of teens needed safety information for their young drivers.

“This moble app for tablets and smartphones continues to grow, and surpassing the 115,000 benchmark shows how valuable our customers find it,” said DMV Commissioner Andres Ayala, Jr.

Since the initial launch of the application a year ago, DMV has added a Spanish version of the practice knowledge tests and parent quiz. Users are now given the choice of taking their practice tests in either English or Spanish. This enhancement to the application is part of the DMV’s broad reach to multicultural audiences throughout the state. In Connecticut, residents speaking Spanish comprise the largest segment of second-language households, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

“DMV Mobile is a very important application offering for the state of Connecticut’s DMV customers,” said Paul VandenBussche, General Manager of Connecticut Interactive, which developed the app. “We’re continually making efforts to improve from it’s initial success and make the service more efficient for users in the future.”

69,777 of CT DMV Mobile’s 115,025 total downloads were downloaded on Apple devices, while another 45,248 were downloaded on Android devices.

CT DMV Mobile is free to download from the iTunes Apple Store and Google Play on Apple and Android devices, respectively. The application can also be downloaded through the DMV website at ct.gov/dmv/apps.
