Clearwater County, Idaho, residents can now pay for marriage licenses, permits, water bills and other services using credit and debit cards at the county clerk’s office in Orofino, County Clerk Carrie Bird announced.

“Paying by credit or debit card is a faster and more convenient option for a lot of our customers, especially if they’re not carrying cash or checks,” Bird said. “We can finally offer a popular payment alternative.”

The clerk’s office accepts any credit or debit card displaying a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo.

Clearwater County partnered with Access Idaho to provide its payment processing service, PayPort. The partnership operates under a self-funded model in which no tax dollars or county funds were used to develop, and none are necessary to maintain the service.

The clerk’s office is the 119th county department in the state to use Access Idaho’s PayPort payment service. In addition to PayPort, Access Idaho manages the state’s official Web portal, idaho.gov, and specializes in electronic government applications.
