Residents in search of breaking news about Lee County Road #925 bridge construction or the annual Youth Fishing Derby now have a new source of information. The county launched its first-ever website last week at http://leecounty.arkansas.gov. The website was developed in partnership with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA) and the Connect Arkansas e-Community Strategies Program.

LeeCounty.Arkansas.gov is a big step toward the county’s goal of making local government services and information transparent and accessible to the public. It uses responsive design technology, which allows residents to view the site comfortably on computers, smart phones, and tablets.

“We are pleased to launch a user-friendly website and provide important county information to the public,” County Judge Jim Keasler said. “In the future, we plan to add more online services to the website to help our citizens engage with the county in a convenient and efficient way.”

The website provides listings of county news and events, county services, departments, officials and a personnel directory. Site visitors can access online state government services including criminal background record searches, vehicle registration tag renewals, fishing licenses and government jobs. LeeCounty.Arkansas.gov also allows visitors to signup and receive email notifications for Morgan Nick / Amber Alerts, state inclement weather notices, national and state terror threat level changes, Arkansas state flag half staff alerts and more.

Website development was funded in part by a grant from Connect Arkansas. INA built the website within a content management system that enables Lee County staff to update site information. This keeps Lee County tax funds available for use where they are truly needed – to improve roads, for example – rather than for website updates. Lee County residents have to love that.
