The Texas Legislature, Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), and Texas.gov just made it easier for Texans to renew their vehicle registration. As of January 1, 2014, all 254 Texas counties offer the option for online renewals – a simple, secure way to keep your vehicle registration current. All you need to get started is your license plate and VIN numbers, your insurance information, and a valid credit card. You can also view a short demo with step-by-step instructions for completing your renewal online at the Texas.gov YouTube channel.

The online renewal option is growing in popularity as more Texas vehicle owners realize that renewing online offers significant time savings and overall convenience. In 2013, more than 2.5 million vehicle registrations were renewed online, a 23 percent increase over 2012. TxDMV takes convenience one step further by offering an email reminder service, eReminder – you provide your email address and they’ll send you a reminder when your vehicle registration is due.

With 1,000+ online services, secure payment processing and friendly 24/7 customer service, make things easier on yourself and your schedule by taking it online with Texas.gov. From there, you can complete many government services such as pay CHIP enrollment fees, order a birth certificate, renew professional licenses, and much more. At Texas.gov/Driver, find links to vehicle registration renewal and other TxDMV information and services, as well as links to the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) online services including driver license renewal, driver records, and driving eligibility and reinstatement.
