Residents of Franklin County, Idaho, can now pay using credit and debit cards at the county landfill, Franklin County Landfill Supervisor Sid Jensen announced.

“We are excited to finally offer this payment option. There have been many times customers drive out to the landfill and forget their checkbook or they’re not carrying enough cash,” Jensen said. “Now there’s a smaller chance they have to go through the inconvenience of leaving and coming back.”

The county accepts any credit or debit card displaying a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo.

Franklin County partnered with Access Idaho to provide the payment processing service, PayPort. The partnership operates under a self-funded model in which no tax dollars or county funds were used to develop the service, and none are necessary to maintain it.

The landfill office is the 117th county department in the state to use Access Idaho’s PayPort payment service. In addition to PayPort, Access Idaho manages the state’s official Web portal, idaho.gov, and specializes in electronic government applications.
