20 Top Jobs If You’re Leaving The Military

As the Defense Department begins making good on plans to cut upwards of $450 billion from defense budgets over the decade ahead, one thing seems certain: A tidal wave of military personnel will soon be looking for work.

A new report, published on CNNMoney.com however, suggests that men and women in uniform will find a relatively wide assortment of high paying jobs in the market that require many of the specialized skills they learned while serving the nation.

The report, assembled by Money Magazine and compensation experts PayScale.com, using Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts, lists the 20 “best jobs if you’re leaving the military” for career changers that prize military skills.

Three of the top 20 jobs include:

  • Intelligence analyst – offering a median pay of $85,600; top pay of $121,000; and the a 10-year job growth rate projection of 17%.
  • Logistics analyst – offering median pay of $60,800; top pay of $89,400; and a 10-year job growth rate projection of 20%.
  • FBI agent – offering median pay of $114,000; top pay of $154,000; and a 10-year job growth rate projection of 17%.

The report also includes quality of life ratings, including grades on expected personal satisfaction, stress levels and flexibility, based on interviews with industry experts and career changers.
